  18. <p>     Will the real Bob Newhart please stand up? Sure he will.
  19. After 14 seasons of sit-coms, button-down Bob is returning to
  20. his roots. Next week he'll be the host of a Showtime comedy
  21. special from Montreal, his first stand-up gig on TV since 1981,
  22. and take to the road with some 40 live performances over the
  23. next year. When Newhart, 60, started as a comic 30 years ago,
  24. it was hard to kill time. Now he has a laptop computer and taps
  25. into a data base with fascinating facts. Explains the master
  26. of dead-pan: "There are 261 miles between Albany and Buffalo.
  27. That's good to know." Oh.
